*Sigh*

That’s it. I quit. I refuse to vote in this coming election. In fact, I may just quit voting altogether. It doesn’t make a damn bit of difference in the end. The elite in the electoral college will make whatever decision they want to make, and my vote won’t change it.

The electoral college was created because the political elite (and believe me, if they’re a politician, they’re part of the elite) didn’t believe that the common man had the intelligence to choose appropriate leaders.  The common person should be treated kindly, but like a child.  He needs his decisions made for him because he doesn’t really know what’s best for him.  The more I read about how people are voting these days, the more I’m inclined to agree.

People that I know who have good minds, think for themselves, and keep themselves informed are telling me that they’re voting along party lines.  These same people strike down anything that they even suspect as coming “against” their party.  And they are striking hard.  These same people are making harsh judgments against me and assuming beliefs simply because they interpret me as “not their party.”  This, apparently, makes me the enemy.  I’m appalled.

Consider this, you rabid politicos.  I’m a Christian, as faithful and true as I know how to be.  I don’t think the government should be able to tell me how to live my life.  That’s Jesus’ job, and He’s better at it anyway.  I believe that God loves everyone – all religious affiliations, all ethnicities, all genders, all orientations, all afflictions, everyone.  God doesn’t deny His love and salvation to anyone who asks for it.  If God lacks such discrimination, shouldn’t I?  Following this logic, I don’t believe it’s right to deny one pair of people the same benefits another pair of people are receiving just because one pair are two different sexes, and the other is the same.  Yes, I am a Christian and I support legislation that would provide the same legal rights to gay partnerships that legally married hetero couples enjoy.  To do otherwise would be to discriminate.  God doesn’t force Himself on his believers.  He gives us the choice to follow or not.  To believe or not.  To do right or not.  He will do his best to make sure we have all the information we need to make the best decision, but it’s still our choice.  If it’s good enough for God, it’s good enough for me.  I don’t have the right to enforce my choices on anyone.  Neither does the government.  I am a Christian, and I am pro-choice on the abortion issue.  I am NOT pro-abortion!  But I am also not about to give a corrupt government the right to make decisions for me or anyone else.

It’s ridiculous to me when I am judged and tried (seemingly) based on the one fact of my religious choice.  How can you claim to be a thinking person if you make a snap judgment about me?  Am I a Republican?  Democrat?  Can you tell?

I also believe that it’s not the government’s place to bail out companies that were run into the ground by corrupt CEOs.  If they’re going to do that, let’s just make it policy across the board!  I’ll spend, spend, spend, and then when I’m about to lose my shirt and go to jail because of fradulent spending practices, I’ll go to the fed and ask for a handout to pay for my bad judgment.  No?  So, it’s not okay to bail me out, but it’s okay to do so for people that make millions.  Oh, I get it.  I’m just not elite enough for you to care about.  We are each our own responsibility.  If we make bad judgments, whether based on greed and corruption or simply on ignorance, we need to pay the price for them.  It’s not the fed’s fault (and by proxy, the taxpayer’s fault).  Do we teach our children not to touch a hot stove by rewarding them every time they reach for it?  This just doesn’t make sense to me.

Can you still make a snap judgment about me?  Donkey or Elephant?  You decide!

I hate our candidates.  Both of them.  I don’t particularly like our current administration, and I didn’t like the previous one, either.  All of them are liars.  They’re all in politics to gain power and connections so that they can make more money.  None of them are in it to “serve the people”.  What a crock!  Clinton’s administration was fraught with lies and deceptions, just as Bush’s is.  The difference is that Clinton lied about who he slept with and Bush lied about weapons of mass destruction.  Okay.  Clinton lied about more than the cigar, but you get my point.  Our current candidates change their song and dance as soon as they see what the polls say.  McCain can’t hold a steady line if a gun were held to his head.  So what that he was a POW.  Can he run this country?  Obama talks and says nothing.  Who cares that he’s got mad public speaking skilz.  Can he run this country?  I’m sorry, but I don’t think either one is worthy of the title “Mr. President.”  And regardless of which one gets elected, I will never consider either one of them my leader.

How dare you even try to pass judgment on who I am!  I am the sum of all that has been written above, and so much more!  Who I am changes daily.  I allow what I learn to move me.  This does not make me wishy-washy.  It makes me open to understanding the truth!  But I’m not hearing the truth, and those who try to label me aren’t hearing it either.  I’ll never tell which “side” I’m on politically.  You figure it out.  It seems to be the current pasttime.  In the meantime, I’m crawling back into my cave and I’m not coming out until Jesus comes back.  To hell with the political system.  I give.
